Who and what is Mt. Diablo Village?
Mt. Diablo Village is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help seniors age in place for as long as possible. In order to do that, MDV provides programs to help seniors maintain their independence by staying connected and physically and mentally healthy. With the programs that we offer, we are creating happy and healthy seniors, one event at a time. Whenever possible, we will also volunteer in the community to help others.
MDV members are also support when they are in need of
- transportation for doctors' appointments, grocery shopping, and maybe for social events;
- home help: changing lightbulbs, help getting things organized, light gardening, etc.;
- pet help: walking and feeding the pets;
- companionship: reading, walking buddies, etc.
Below are some of the regular events that we offer. Check out our events calendar and join us at some of our events. We hope you see you at our events soon.
MDV Muffin Mondays are at Civic Park in Walnut Creek during the summer months of 2026. We will return to Hillside Covenant Church in Septembery. This is a great event where people come to share their stories, have great conversations and a lot of laughs. If you like to meet new friends, talk and laugh, this one is for you. We serve homemade muffins every time.
MDV loves art and music. On July 26, we gathered at Civic Park for Festival Opera's annual Opera in the Park event. The show was Elixir of Love. It was a fabulous production.
MDV Downtown Walk is not just a walking on our downtown streets. We partner with the Downtown Business Association. We will visit two businesses each month and learn about the latest and greatest of our vibrant downtown. At this walk we learned that Zebra Tattoo and Piercing is a 4-decade old family business. Owners are all super nice and kind people. HighLine Jewelry has many blindingly shiny and sparkly jewelry. Be sure to wear your sunglasses when you go in.
MDV participates in the 2026 Trails Challenge put on by the East Bay Regional Parks District. Our goal is to achieve the required miles to get a pin at or toward the end of the year. Get in a good spirit, get your steps in and make friends along the way. The goal is to either walk/hike 26.2 miles or five of the suggested trails in the Trails Challenge Booklet. Are you in?
The MDV Foodies Club started in June 2026. The first restaurant we picked was Model Bakery for breakfast. They treated us like kings and queens. Our second trip was lunch at the food court in H Mart, a Korean supermarket in Dublin. It was a Book Club and Foodies Club joint event. Great fun.
This was the field trip to H Mart, a Korean supermarket in Dublin. We carpooled. Learned something new and had some good and authentic Korean food.
